Tron Future Tech, a fast-growing Taiwanese startup, has secured a major contract with the Taiwanese military to supply 26 advanced anti-drone systems. These systems will be deployed across Taiwan’s outlying islands to protect against grey-zone threats from drones. The contract marks the first step taken by the private sector into Taiwan’s drone defense, while laying a critical milestone for the military’s anti-drone capabilities. With this contract, Tron Future Tech has also positioned itself as Taiwan’s leading supplier of anti-drone solutions.

The advanced anti-drone systems feature a 4D hybrid beamforming Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, a passive RF detector, and a jammer, offering a customizable detection range of up to 6 kilometers. Designed to counter frequency-hopping drones, which are increasingly used to evade detection, the system can disrupt communication channels and neutralize complex aerial threats.

As the only private-sector supplier of AESA radar, Tron Future Tech’s solution stands out due to its in-house development of key components, ranging from system integration and subsystems to modules and core IC design. The systems also incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance their effectiveness in countering drone swarms, providing robust defense against multiple simultaneous threats.

Notably, the company’s proprietary AESA radar, T.Radar, includes track-while-scan and spotlight modes, allowing continuous tracking of multiple targets without interruption, ensuring optimal situational awareness in complex environments. The RF detector, T.Sensor, can detect drones and their operators before takeoff, as well as identify specific drone manufacturers and models, offering a critical edge in preemptive threat identification and mitigation. The Command & Control (C2) software platform, T. Meta, offers real-time monitoring, advanced threat analytics, and the capability to fuse data from multiple installation sites to provide a common picture of drone defense.

Founded in 2018, Tron Future Tech has rapidly become a leader in Taiwan’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite and Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) sectors. In 2024, Tron Future Tech raised NT$900 million in a Series A funding round led by government-backed Taiwania Capital. This investment will support the company’s continued expansion into satellite communications and anti-drone markets, strengthening Taiwan’s space and defense capabilities in response to increasing regional security challenges.

Tron Future Tech’s anti-drone systems have already been deployed to military facilities and critical infrastructure, including the Hsinchu Science Park and various reservoirs. These deployments are part of a broader initiative to enhance Taiwan’s defense infrastructure and counter evolving security threats posed by unmanned aerial vehicles.
